27 YEARS OF SUNDAYWatch part one Watch part two A long and proud chapter of Australian television history closed on August 3 2008, when the final edition of the ground-breaking and award-winning SUNDAY program went to air on Channel Nine. We look back at some of the award winning pieces filed by many of the outstanding journalists who worked on SUNDAY. Joining host Ellen Fanning to celebrate SUNDAY’S unique place in Australian journalism are many well-known faces from the program’s 27-year history, who have all contributed to its remarkable success. They include founding executive producer Allan Hogan, Jennifer Byrne, Charles Wooley, Helen Dalley, Ray Martin, Ross Greenwood, Michael Pascoe, Ross Coulthart, Adam Shand, Laurie Oakes, and the original host, Jim Waley. Along with Australian politics, the SUNDAY team will look back on the program’s illustrious history with local and international reports on the events that have shaped our world. The SUNDAY site will be kept live so viewers can continue to search and enjoy the show's valuable archive of political interviews, features and special investigations... more LAURIE OAKES: Interview with Kevin Rudd Watch our report Original SUNDAY host Jim Waley returns to introduce the final Laurie Oakes political interview for SUNDAY, with Prime Minister Kevin Rudd, just as he did back in November 1981 when SUNDAY premiered with PM Malcolm Fraser sitting in Laurie’s hot seat. Fraser was the first of hundreds of politicians grilled by Oakes on Sunday mornings, often setting the political agenda for the week ahead. more SUNDAY IN FILM: Peter Thompson and Nell Schofield Watch our report SUNDAY host Ellen Fanning speaks to our film reviewers past and present - Peter Thompson and Nell Schofield - about our 27 years of in-depth reviews of cinema. more SUNDAY INVESTIGATION: Adam Shand's Melbourne Gangland Investigations Watch our report We look back at the ground-breaking SUNDAY reports that chronicled the course of Melbourne’s gangland war - the often gritty, always compelling investigative reports by Adam Shand which was turned into the TV series, Underbelly. more SUNDAY INVESTIGATION: Ross Coulthart/Nick Farrow - Butcher of Bega Investigations It was a story that became as moving for the bravery of the victims, as it was shocking for the crimes of Dr Graeme Stephen Reeves. When we first broadcast our story on the so-called ‘Butcher of Bega’, the investigation was followed-up by media across the world. Yet we had our suspicions there were still more victims. Nothing could have prepared us for the enormity of the response. We look back on these exclusive reports by Ross Coulthart, which lifted the lid on Australia's worst medical disaster. more |
